“But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God,

you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.”

“I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.

For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness,

and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness,

so now present your members

as slaves of righteousness for holiness.”

But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin,

you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted.

You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

“Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone

as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey,

either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience,

which leads to righteousness?”

“And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin,

but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead,

and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.”

“Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin,

but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him.”

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above,

where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above,

not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”

“For we know that our old self was crucified with Him

so that the body of sin might be done away with,

that we should no longer be slaves to sin.”

“Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death,

that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father,

even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

“Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus

were baptized into His death?”

“Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men,

so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.”

“But the free gift is not like the offense.

For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God

and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.”

“So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit,

and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature.

They are in conflict with each other,

so that you do not do what you want.”

for all of you who were baptized into Christ
