The most pressing question in the Catholic Church today is whether or not Pope Francis was a manifest heretic. The Church Fathers are clear on the matter: a pope who is a manifest heretic has excommunicated himself from the Church. Since he is no longer a member, he cannot be its head. St. Cyprian, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and St. Athanasius, as well as the Doctors of the Church St. Robert Bellarmine, St. Francis de Sales, St. Alphonsus Liguori and St. Anthony of Florence, all teach this. So do Popes Innocent III (1198) and Paul IV (1559). However, the problem is that the pope, a manifest heretic, will not voluntarily relinquish his position of power.

The revolution consists in every Catholic Christian beginning to do penance. For what? For having turned away in heart from the living God. Penance for laziness and negligence concerning the salvation of one’s immortal soul. Penance for having lost, through this negligence, a living faith, without which no one will be saved. A Czech poet writes: “The body belongs in the grave; woe to the one who neglected the soul!” Why do you not do penance? Because you have not set aside a fixed time for prayer. People today are in a hurry, struggling against time, while on the other hand wasting precious time surfing the internet or using their smartphones, some of them for hours every day! In our time, the most necessary form of penance is to set aside a fixed time each day for God and for your immortal soul. How can God speak to you if you do not make time for Him and for conversation with Him?

God’s Word says: “Seven times a day…” (Ps 119:164). Both the Old- and New-Testament Tradition present a daily prayer rhythm. This rhythm was kept by St Paul and the Apostles. Similarly, St Basil emphasized the need for moments of prayer throughout the day in the life of every Christian. Unfortunately, nowadays Christians do not have the daily rhythm of communion with God.

Why stop seven times? The number seven is symbolic but it is good to take it practically. Above all, we stop to avoid acting on our own, because when a person does not stop to be mindful of God’s presence, they act only on their feelings and reason, which are not always in harmony with God’s will.

It involves seven days of prayer. In case of a very serious problem the prayer can be said repeatedly for seven weeks. The Holy Spirit descended on the fiftieth day. The fiftieth year was the year of the Lord’s favour. “Whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.” (Jn 16:23)
