Legal action against the UGCC hierarchy

We hereby ask You to condemn the crime of staging a coup in Ukraine committed by the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) Msgr. Sviatoslav Shevchuk, Cardinal Lubomir Husar and Msgr. Boris Gudzyak. These three hierarchs of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church not only supported the opposition parties on the EuroMaidan in Ukraine but directly organized the coup.

The EuroMaidan in Lvov was directly supported by the Ukrainian Catholic University which sent its students to the place. Today, on 11 December 2013, the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lvov showed civil disobedience to the President and Government of Ukraine and called on other universities of Ukraine to do the same.

Msgr. Boris Gudzyak, using social networks, spread instructions on how to overthrow the government and stage the coup.

Bishops of the UGCC repeatedly expressed their support to the EuroMaidan in Ukraine in spite of the fact that it is in no way a peaceful demonstration but a violent coup. These prelates are accountable for people whom they deceived, manipulated and mobilized into taking to the streets. They are also responsible for the blood of innocent people who have suffered injuries on both sides – police and demonstrators.

We demand exemplary sentences for violent politically disruptive activities of these three hierarchs of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
