Stop to piracy on Athos

Lvov (Ukraine), 9 August 2013

To President and Government of Greece

The Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate hereby turns to the President and Government of Greece with a protest against the violent action against the faithful monks at the Esphigmenou Monastery on Mount Athos dating back to the 5th century. Full responsibility for this criminal attack rests with the Government of Greece.

On 29 July 2013, there was a piratical action against the monks, appealing to a verdict of the court. We ask: What court? Ecclesiastical or secular? It is a hypocritical verdict against monks who committed no crime against God, against the Greek nation or against the Church.

On the other hand, ex-Patriarch Bartholomew committed a crime against God and the Church when by his syncretistic gesture in Assisi on 27 October 2011 he revealed a heretical attitude placing the worship of the Triune God on the same level as the worship of pagan demons. This is the supreme heresy! By this reason he incurs not only ecclesiastical punishment but God’s punishment of anathema – a curse according to Gal 1:8-9. This anathema was made public by the Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate on 24 May 2013. Bartholomew betrayed Christ and the Gospel and he now holds the office of Patriarch unlawfully! The Greek government should prohibit the apostate Bartholomew from exercising ecclesiastical office in the territory of Greece and do its utmost to achieve his removal from office. The Government ought to adhere to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of the Church. And if it does interfere, it must be within the bounds of justice. The Greek government is responsible for the crime of removal of Irenaeus, the lawful Patriarch of Jerusalem, and enthronement of the conspirator Theophilus. Theophilus brought down on himself God’s curse – anathema acc. Gal 1:8-9 for his apostatical syncretistic gesture in Kiev in 2012. The Greek government, supporting the ideology of Freemasons, protects church apostates who betrayed Christ and the Church. It serves traitors and therefore destroys the faithful servants of the Church of Christ.

Being an instrument of the apostates Bartholomew and Theophilus who are under God’s anathema, the Greek government brings down a curse on the entire nation as well.

The Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate declares in accordance with Gal 1:8-9: Bishops, priests and religious must no longer obey the orders of pseudo Patriarch Bartholomew. If they do, they partake in his anathema. Let us point out that without the law of God ecclesiastical law is invalid and harmful.

Greece incurs the hugest debts among all European countries. The curse brought down on the nation by the apostate church hierarchs is manifested by moral and economic disharmony in the society.

The Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate demands that the Government should stop all attacks on the Esphigmenou Monastery on Athos.
