An appeal of the Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate to the hierarchy of the UGCC

The Bishops’ Synod of the UOGCC sent an appeal to each bishop of the UGCC in a personal letter of 1 April 2011. The Synod emphasized an extremely serious time when Ukraine witnesses changes in legislation, establishment of homodictatorship and implementation of juvenile justice which removes children from normal families.
You were reminded of the fact that in 2008 You fell under God’s anathema by reason of unity with the spirit of heresies of ex-Card. L. Husar. Apart from other heresies, he also openly approves of homosexuality. Therefore we appealed to each of You to confess the true Catholic faith before God and in the presence of witnesses. Furthermore, we asked You to write a pastoral letter in which You should call upon all believers of the particular Greek-Catholic eparchies to participate in demonstrations in the eparchial towns. The purpose of these demonstrations is protection of the family against homodictatorship and against pirate stealing of children by the so-called juvenile justice system. This concrete step is an expression of faith in God, faithfulness to God’s laws and awareness of responsibility towards the nation. This gesture of confession and repentance will truly be a gesture of the apostle Peter and the opposite of the gesture of the apostle Judas who did not repent. By making this step You will remove God’s anathema from Yourselves.
Moreover, we hereby announce to You that by reason of an extremely critical situation in the Church, concerning violation of doctrine and morals, the Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate was established. Now by authority of this Patriarchate, in the name of the Triune God, we appeal to each of You personally again to confess the true faith and to write a pastoral letter. In this letter You should stand in defence of the family and children against homosexuality connected with AIDS and against the juvenile justice system which destroys the family.
On 30 March 2011, between 4:30 and 8:30 pm, the UOGCC held a demonstration against juvenile justice and homosexuality in front of the Town Council in Lvov. A similar demonstration was staged by civic organizations and students on the following day. The Town Council turned in writing to the President of Ukraine with a radical demand for dissolution of the LGBT Council and rejection of the juvenile justice system. This Town Council appealed to You too to express a clear and definite attitude towards these topical issues. Your hitherto silence in this situation is a betrayal of Christ, of moral values and of the Ukrainian nation.
Call upon all the faithful as soon as possible to go out into the streets and hold demonstrations in support of moral values and of their children. Unless You do so, in this situation all other activities are just hypocritical alibis. God will require the blood of the innocent at Your hand. For God and for Ukraine!
