Word of life – Rom 7:1-2
“Or do you not know, brethren (for I speak to those who know the law),
that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives?
For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives.
But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband.”

Chapter seven of the Epistle to the Romans enlightens us on new things. It says that while we are in the flesh (Rom 7:5), we are carnal (7:14) and there is nothing good in us, that is, in our flesh.
In chapter six we read how God made us free from sin and in chapter seven how He makes us free from the law.
The law is just. The wages of sin is death, and the law thus justly condemned us to death. But the Lord Jesus took this death upon Himself, thereby fulfilling the law, and so the law lost all power over us.
Through the faith in Jesus, in the power of His death, every sinner is saved from the judgment of the just law.
