Who do we fight against?

When we are to fight, we need to know who we fight against. We do not fight against a dead territory – factories, airports, arms depots… We do not fight against any physical, i.e. dead energies but we fight against the kosmokratoras – spiritual forces, intellectual evil beings, who have spiritual power. But they too must bow to God’s Majesty, to the Word of God. To the Word of God spoken through His faithful servants. They must bow whether they like it or not. However, the Word of God must be spoken in faith, with no doubting. For the Apostle James says: “He who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.” (Jam 1:6) Jesus says: “Do not doubt but believe!” In what? Not in our own strength, our skills or experience… Yes, we need to have experience and we can use it in the fight, but the main thing is to have a connection to the “centre” – to Jesus. An electric locomotive cannot produce the necessary amount of energy to move the wagons unless it is connected to the power source. Similarly, any other technology does not work without a connection to the source. So the condition always is connection! We likewise must be connected to Jesus. So the most important thing always is: Where is Jesus? Jesus says in the Gospel: “Without Me you can do nothing.” (Joh 15:5), and He also speaks of unity: “Abide in Me, and I in you.” (Joh 15:4) And in another place, He says: “Until now you have asked nothing in My name.” (Joh 16:23-24) We could say: “Lord, we have asked so many times until now.” Where is the problem then? We can pronounce the name of Jesus Christ, and it is important to a certain extent; however, if we fight against the kosmokratoras, demons will not leave if they see that the pronounced words have no power, that they lack the power of God. Why? The reason is our doubts, lack of faith and absent-mindedness, owing to which we are like a leaky pot and everything flows out of us. But if we are in a living union with Jesus through the mystery of our crucifixion with Christ, every knee bows at His name.
