Consecration of Russia to the Mother of God

In 1037, Yaroslav the Wise consecrated Kievan Rus to the Holy Mother of God in “the Golden gates”.

In 1917, the Mother of God appeared to three children in Fatima. She called for repentance and showed hell to the children which awaited those who would stubbornly reject God’s call to mankind. The last apparition in Fatima was on 13 October 1917, on the eve of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. In her messages Our Lady of Fatima gave a prophetic word to the world with the request that all Russia should be consecrated to her Immaculate Heart. She gave a promise: “If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church.”

Today, when Ukraine is still an independent state and the spiritual plague coming from the West has not yet destroyed the faith and moral values of the Ukrainian nation at the root, her call for repentance is urgently topical.

On 13 October 2011, the eve of the Feast of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God, in the monastery chapel of contemplative sisters in Ukraine at 9 pm., Patriarch Elijah fulfilled her request. This happened ninety-four years after she asked that the territory of Russia should be consecrated to her Immaculate Heart. She is the new Eve (Gen 3:15), she is full of grace (Lk 1:28), she is the Mother of the Son of God and our Saviour and she is also our Mother (Jn 19:25-27).

Russia at that time included the larger part of Ukraine and Belarus too. These three nations in particular now have responsibility before God and before all mankind to enter upon the path of true conversion and repentance. On their response to the Mother of God and on their step of repentance depends not only their own existence but also the salvation of the world.

Consecration to the Mother of God was accomplished! God confers grace through it not only to the Ukrainian but also to Belarusian and Russian nation. He now waits for active steps of repentance and conversion (cf. Mk 1:15).

The Most Holy Mother of God, save us!
