The devil wants to deceive us and drag us to hell

It is written: “Depart from Me into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” These are terrible words spoken to those who will be condemned. Though the Scripture speaks about hell in many places, many so-called Christians do not believe in hell. In all periods in history, the devil had an argument which denied eternal damnation. He said already in the Garden of Eden: “You will not surely die but your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God.” (cf. Gen 3:4-5) The devil told a lie. The essence of damnation is that man believes the devil and his lies rather than the Word of God. And so man is united to him whom he believes. That is why we must offer resistance in our hearts to the programme of rebellion inherited from our first parents, to original sin, to spiritual blindness, to the love of lies and to the belief in lies. Jesus brought the truth to us and He seeks our good. The devil wants to deceive us and to drag us where he is himself. This is his programme as well as the programme of all the intelligent demonic spirits who gather like dark clouds and influence our mind, e.g. through philosophies which enforce their lies on us. The devil thus keeps us in darkness and spiritual sleep. And by fighting against the lies in us and in the world as well as against the spirit of lies, against the devil, we can show our love for God and our faithfulness to Him....

What to do so as not to go to purgatory?

What to do so as not to go to purgatory? We must repent – receive Jesus as our Saviour, live by faith. We should also make the most of mental or physical suffering which purifies our soul. God allows it in the form of humiliation, ridicule, defamation, scolding… We should accept it from the hand of God, give thanks for it and be aware that this is now my purgatory instead of the purgatory after death, as St Augustine said: “Chastise me here, O God, and do not spare me now, in order that I may be spared the punishment (fire) of Hell.” I want to love myself truly, so I do not want to be in purgatory for a single minute.

Therefore, our hearts must be set aflame with fire, with the fire of pure love. We must be baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire, i.e. walk in the Holy Spirit. Jesus says: “I cast fire on the earth, and how I want it to burn!” (Lk 12:49) Where should this fire burn? In us. It should purify us. It is a fire of zeal, pure love for Jesus. A fire that should burn all manifestations of our pride, self-love, envy, self-pity, criticism, rebellion, impurity, our dependences on things, people or on our plans. This fire should burn it all up. Jesus will then truly be our Lord.

In moments of crisis, just lift up your eyes

Let us never forget the essential thing: To love God more than anyone or anything else, that means, more than our ego too! To love means to die! Love is crucified! And in moments of crisis you only need to lift up your eyes and to be aware that God sees you now and to bear the present pain. You can also think of your physical death. It will come one day and it will be late then! Now – today there is still time for repentance, for zealousness.

We are not mindful of death in our everyday life

We all know, logically, that we must die. However, none of us is mindful of it. It is the height of folly that even people in hospitals, paralyzed by illness, do not think seriously about death. I used to visit hospitals, administering the last sacraments to the terminally ill, and I asked myself: “O God, how is it possible that people are so indifferent to the salvation of their souls?” It happened once that I heard a confession of a dying man in a hospital. After the confession, the man said to me: “When I return home, I’ll make rabbit hutches.” I said to him: “How can you talk such nonsense? You are at death’s door and you think about such foolish things?! Think of your encounter with God when you will stand before His judgment seat!”

What is in store for me after death?

What is in store for me after death? Either eternal life or eternal damnation. This is a serious thing. The Word of God says: “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” (Heb 9:27)

If someone is summoned to appear before a judge in court, one trembles with fear. We all shall stand before the judgment seat of God, but we fail to cover evil done by us. What would a person carrying drugs do if he knew that he will be shot to death if the drugs are discovered? He would quickly get rid of them, throw them away.

Let us give the first place to Jesus and His will every day

Life is really very short and then comes eternity! The devil, the world and the old self try to keep us in dullness, sleep and pointless efforts lest we should pray, humble ourselves, encourage one another or earnestly seek the kingdom of God first. And therefore, let us deny ourselves and give the first place to Jesus and His will every day!

What are you doing for the salvation of your immortal soul?

None of us will be here after one hundred years. We all will be in a cemetery, a pile of bones and dust. However, our soul is immortal, and it will be either in hell or in heaven. Purgatory is only a temporary state. The forces which try to drag us to hell are: 1) our pride and disordered passions, 2) the world and its system of lies, and 3) the spirit of lies – a liar and murderer. The three of them have one task: to get us to hell. So we must radically and uncompromisingly stand in the light, expose these three enemies and their destructive plan and declare war on them. We cannot serve two masters. We will either love the one and hate the other, or vice versa. We cannot serve both God and a demon (mammon or other idols). We must say a definite “yes” to God and a definite “no” to the enemy. Eternal life, and not only ours, is at stake. The eternity of people around us depends on us.

No expression of a living faith is in vain

We should live in the presence of God so that we may do the will of God, decide, speak and act not on our own

but in dependence on God. The condition for us to abide and walk in God is our practical faith. We should really walk in faith like Abraham and revive our faith again and again in all trials. Therefore, no expression of a living faith is in vain or without response.

Intellectual pride keeps man from bowing before God

Why do scientists reject belief in God? A certain scientist said: “If you are a believer and you are really a good scientist, science will bring you to even greater knowledge of God.” If someone is an atheist, it is because he refuses to acknowledge an intelligent and wise Being higher than himself to Whom he ought to give an account of his life. In other words, it is intellectual pride, which is, in fact, demonic pride. Similarly, the angels who became demons had refused to submit to the authority of God who created them. They wanted to be as God: “I am God and acknowledge no higher authority than myself.” Only hardened people refuse to know God, to bow before Him, to turn to Him and to give Him the first place in their lives, because they do not want to be dependent on Him.

How to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness in practice

Try it! Try if it works! Try it this week. Try to seek first the kingdom of God. Try to put your trust in God, knowing that He will care for you just as He cares for birds or lilies (cf. Mt 6:25-30). Try not to serve two masters but to serve God alone. Try it all and you will see that He is really a living God who cares for your life. He will give you the light what to do. Jesus is alive. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is with you. Do you have problems? Give them to Jesus. “Lord, this is my problem. I give it to You.” But give it to Him with faith. Do not ask Him without believing that He will hear you. Give Him your problems and put absolute trust in Him. He will solve them and work miracles because He is almighty and He loves you. He is with you always. But one thing is needed: you must be with Him too. Seek first the kingdom of God and He will solve all problems in your life.

How to fight bad moods

When a mood takes you or you slide into depression, ask yourself at once: What spirit is behind it?! The spirit of lies. If you yield to it, it will torment you for hours, days or weeks. Stop! Lift up your heart! Realize God’s presence and give your problem to Jesus. He will take it from you and fill your heart with peace which the world cannot give. It works 120%! You only need to practise it and come to Jesus time and again. Unless you have done so, you have not fulfilled the conditions and so nothing happens. God’s Word falls on deaf ears and God cannot work and touch your heart. You must give Him your problem, go for an X-ray – stand personally before God and tell Him: “Lord, You know me, You know my thoughts, feelings, everything. I won’t act unwisely and hide it from You.” Jesus says: “There is nothing covered that will not be revealed.” Everything will be revealed!

Sin causes suffering to those who sin as well as to those around them

God has given us His commandments. If we trespass against them, we sin and cause pain, grief and evil both to ourselves and to the people around us. ‘Nothing Is a Sin’ has now become a popular modern slogan. Do whatever you like! Freedom! Whatever sin or impurity has the green light. But where will it all end? AIDS, venereal diseases, psychological decay of the entire nation, hell on earth and after death. Every sin causes suffering to the person sinning as well as to the people around him.
