The spirit of pharisaism
The spirit of pharisaism is a spirit which vegetates in the Church in a special way. One must take a whip and drive it out of the temple of God like the money-changers. Religious Pharisees hate the truth. They are full of rebellion and pride. They neither enter the kingdom of God themselves, nor do they allow others to enter it, as Jesus said in the Gospel. One must defy this spirit: “If you want to go to hell, please, go! But we want to be saved! And to be saved we need a living faith in Jesus. He who does not believe will be condemned. This is His Word, not ours!”
Pharisees use psychological pressure. They intimidate you, threaten you with punishments and force you into so-called repentance – but why? Because you believe in Christ! They focus on “erudition” and theology degrees but this has nothing to do with normal life where you need common sense in everyday situations. They soak up information but are unable to discern truth from evil and the like. They are practical atheists notwithstanding the fact that they make flowery theological speeches. In time of persecution, these people will be the first to make peace with demons. They are no witnesses of Christ but traitors number one. And this spirit destroys the whole Church at the root. It diverts attention from the most essential thing. And the most essential thing is our relationship with Jesus. Jesus is neither a Jesus of philosophers, psychologists or theologians, nor a mystical or mythical Christ, Christ of faith or Christ of history. This is how they preach Him. Jesus to us is – my Lord and my God! My personal Saviour. And this is the faith that leads to salvation. We are children of God through our faith in Jesus Christ.
