Reflection on Is 25:7

On this mountain the Lord will destroy the veil
that shrouds all the peoples,
the sheet spread over all the nations.

What is the shroud? What is that veil, which in some way shrouds or covers all people without distinction? The spiritual shroud is a hereditary sin, or a deposit of evil in us, which in Scripture is called the old man. The fruit of this destructive shroud are all the crimes, murders, atrocities, which the mankind has committed and is committing. All this crawls from under that cover of the spiritual darkness, full of lies and evil, which darkens our mind and blinds our will. In order to remove this veil, God became man. Man’s free will, however, is still a deep secret. Many people fell in love with lies and evil and they do not want this cover to be removed from their soul so that their mind recognizes the truth and conscience convicts them of their evil deeds. Jesus said: “Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness because their deeds were evil.” We can see the proof of this being a reality daily, be it through the global events as well as in our private life. A little flock plays a significant role here. It is understood that this biblical name designates “the remnant of Israel”. Jesus says: “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” These are specific persons, such as prophets and saints, and God is looking for people like this today as well. Through these people God averts punishment, which evil and malevolent people serving the deceitful spirit draw on the nation. We are helpless face to face with an evil, which today is connected with the rebellion against God and natural laws and which is linked with promotion of satanic anti-laws leading up to the destruction of an individual as well as of the mankind. Yes, God allows it to happen. On the other hand, He looks for individuals, praying people, propitiatory sacrifices, generous souls, who in unity with Christ can save the entire nations. Not only from the temporary death, but from an eternal one. Be aware of the responsibility you have as a believer. Do not neglect your prayer, time allotted to the prayer, be it the holy hour, or the prayer stop or a prayer watch. Many people offer to God a tenth of their time, which means about 2.5 hours per day.

The shroud was torn apart in the moment, when Jesus on Golgotha, a few meters away from Sion, had died for us on the cross. The darkness that covered the Earth at that time, that spiritual darkness, was torn open. Tearing apart of the temple curtain, which separated a sanctuary from the holy of holies was an external sign. This has already happened. In order to materialize this victory, our old man must be crucified, which happens through specific people, who unite themselves with Jesus. The spiritual structure of evil in the world is paralyzed in the second you are helpless and united with Jesus in His dying and His death. Through you, as part of the Mystical Body of Christ called the Church, this shroud of the darkness is torn apart in this moment and through it comes the light and God’s blessing. Many souls receive a grace to wake up from the slumber of sin, those dying ones receive the light and will be saved from eternal damnation. This is the faith that unites us to God, the faith that moves spiritual mountains. It is the faith not only proclaiming the name Jesus, but also the faith that is internally united with Him in the moment of His utmost love for us, His death. We have been buried in it with Christ by baptism. Our spirit desires for the Kingdom of God to reign in us. However, the veil prevented it. Saving faith unites us with Christ’s death and releases its power. Christ’s death in a specific person at a specific time tears apart this shroud, which covers every person when they are born. It happens through faith reflected in a prayer and through renouncing one’s own will and adhering to the will of God, especially in the crises of life and in tests.

On this mountain, namely on Golgotha, the Lord will remove the veil. This has already happened. It is necessary that what had happened on Golgotha 2000 years ago materializes in us, in a prayer of faith by uniting ourselves with the mystery of Christ’s death and new life, into which we have been immersed in the baptism.

The next verse reads: “He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of His people shall He take away from off all the earth: for the LORD has spoken it.” (v.8) When will God take away death? At the second coming. He will take it away when we enter a new, eternal life through a physical death, and there will be no more death. The eternal death is meant for those who reject God and our Redeemer Jesus Christ.

Let us realize that on Golgotha or Calvary, Jesus completed His blood sacrifice. A few meters away from there is mount Sion, on which He introduced non-bloody sacrifice, the holy liturgy. In a mystical way, Christ’s death is made present in time and space through the liturgy. Those who are not in a proper state to experience this mystery in a spiritual way will have little use of it. To be best predisposed, one needs to enter into the depth of one’s mystical baptism, namely spiritual immersion into the power of Christ’s death, in the interior prayer, in solitude, in their prayer chamber at home. When we are in such condition, we can greatly benefit from the holy liturgy and the holy communion. We should experience a spiritual communion in a prayer, peacefully, focused and aware of Jesus being in us according to the promise: “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word… and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.” Who? Jesus, the entire Holy Trinity! We are the temple of God and we do not realize it. It is in prayer where we need to acknowledge the essential truths referring to our salvation. The first of those is the truth about the cross of Christ, His death and our unity with Him.
