Three words of advice about receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit
On the day of Pentecost, the Apostle Peter sets two conditions (Acts 2:38):
1) conversion
2) baptism
Many people have been baptized and confirmed. The Holy Spirit is with them but not in them. Why? Because they were not led to turn to God with all their hearts and to receive Jesus as their personal Lord and God and the only Saviour. As far as conversion is concerned, no one can be converted instead of you, be it your father, mother, godparents, priest or bishop. Conversion allows no substitute!
Three words of advice on conversion:
1) First we have to tell Jesus about our sins as well as about our spiritual bondage. We need to receive Him as our only Saviour, Lord and God. If I have received Jesus with a sincere heart, I can call God my Father, and more than that, I can ask Him for the Holy Spirit just as a child asks its father. If I rejected Jesus and His teaching (the Gospel) or had any objections to it or added anything to it from other non-Christian religions, I have, in actual fact, not received Jesus as Lord and God, I have avoided conversion, I have not changed my way of thinking in the most essential points, and so I cannot receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
2) Next, we need a living community of believers who have already received the gift of the Holy Spirit.
3) It is necessary to renounce all forms of occultism. Ask the community for clarification and loosing from this bondage and curse which may have fallen on your soul even without you being aware of it.
When you have received the gift of the Holy Spirit, you need a living community for the sake of your growth and maturity. This community must have a prayer order and leadership and must be in union with the Mystical Body of Christ – the Church.
