The vision of restoration of Christianity in Russia and Ukraine
It is necessary for the Orthodox priests to resolve to devote at least one and a half days a week to God and their souls in prayer and reflection on God’s Word. This would lead to the spiritual resurrection of all Russia and Ukraine.
An Orthodox priest has his own family. It would be enough if these married priests spent less than two days in prayer and fellowship. After a certain period of time, they could discuss together in fellowship the problem of mutual unity on the basis of the fact that they will first begin to perceive their outward sins which arouse indignation in the faithful and cause them to leave the Church, be it e.g. love of money, overbearing manner and clerical pride, or their ill-behaved children which cause outrage… Finally, they would come to the conclusion: indeed, we must stop being schizophrenics at last, we must stop preaching one way and living another way, and then our family will really be a model, a living Gospel for the whole parish. These parish priests could then devote time to so-called fellowships (or fraternities) which were common in the past and, to some extent, strengthened the believers in the faith. They could now be restored in each parish. Under the guidance of the priest, men would encourage one another on how to be the head of the family, how to deal with problems wisely, how to bring up children, how to fight together against the spirit of lies which influences people through mass media, fashion or various ideologies. These restored parishes, where there would not only be common people but also doctors, politicians, artists or journalists, would give rise to a new generation of true Christians. This will be a model for the resurrection of the Mystical Body of Christ – the Church – because just as the family consists of a father, a mother and children, so also the Church is not a group of individuals but a community of people where Jesus is in the midst. People seek Jesus but Christianity is in a total crisis. Famous theologians, famous philosophers have led people away from the essence and dug a spiritual grave. It is necessary to give people the living Jesus. It is necessary to point to Jesus. It is necessary to show the way and the means, namely fellowship, true fellowship. This fellowship will give birth to teachers and martyrs, apologists. And God sets this task before us. Where God will put us is His matter. The important thing for us is to be in unity so that He may be in our midst.
